Why Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture?
One of the most valuable contributions Chinese medicine and Acupuncture make to those of us living in this fast paced modern world is a fundamental shift in perspective. What actually is health? What does it mean to live in such a way that we are not working against the natural world or our own physiology, but supporting and living in harmony with it. Through this shift we can better learn to recognize and adapt to internal patterns within ourselves such as: what we are eating, the types of lifestyle we engage in, the role stress and our emotions play in affecting our overall health. As well as the influence of external factors in our environment, such as: seasonal changes, climate, and socio-political factors.

Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture arose from a culture, which recognized through careful observation of natural patterns, that there are processes “in the world at large that mirror the interactive process occurring inside the body,” and as such, “the goal of therapy in Chinese medicine is to maintain or reestablish the health of this system of integration.” - (Yi, Wang 2008)

Complementary care
Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture can be used in conjunction with and support Biomedical (Western Medical) care. There is no inherent contradiction between the two systems, although there are certainly differences.

Non-pharmaceutical options
It is important to stay on your prescription drugs for as long as your healthcare team deems necessary. Working in tandem with medication, the goal is to alleviate side effects, and ultimately treat the root cause of disease, in order to help you potentially reduce reliance on drugs.
